A Dubai transit visa 48 hours permit lets you leave Dubai International Airport during a layover and spend up to two days in the city before your onward flight. It is a single-entry e-visa, valid to enter within 14 days of issue, and the total price is $130 per person. You need the Dubai transit visa 48 hours permit if all three apply:

• Your nationality is not visa-free or visa-on-arrival for the UAE.

• You are connecting through Dubai to a third country — not returning to where you started.

• You want to leave the airport during the layover.

The Dubai transit visa 48 hours price is $130 per person, all-inclusive. The UAE government waives its own fee on the 48-hour transit permit, so the price covers sponsorship, processing and insurance where required. You still need a sponsor because transit visas, like all UAE visit visas, are filed by a UAE-based entity — an airline or a licensed agency — not by the traveller directly.

The 14 Day Single tourist visa is listed because for $10 more it allows a stay of two weeks and a 58-day window to enter, and it is not tied to an onward flight. Dubai Transit Visa 48 Hours Rules

• Validity to enter: 14 days from the date of issue.

• Stay: 48 hours, counted from the time you clear immigration, not from landing.

• Entries: single. Leave and re-enter and the visa is used up.

• Extension: not possible. Overstaying costs AED 50 per day with no grace period — see overstay rules.

• Onward ticket: mandatory, to a country other than the one you departed from.

• Passport validity: at least six months.

Flydubai Transit Visa 48 Hours

A large share of transit-visa searches are for the Flydubai transit visa, because Flydubai connects dozens of South Asian, African and Central Asian cities through Dubai. Flydubai sponsors 48-hour transit visas for passengers travelling on its own tickets. The process runs through the airline's website after booking, and you need a confirmed Flydubai itinerary with a Dubai connection.

Two limits to know. First, the Flydubai transit visa is only available to passengers on Flydubai-operated flights — if one leg is on another carrier, the airline may decline. Second, the airline route is often slower and priced higher than a licensed sponsor. If you are not on a Flydubai ticket, or you want a faster decision, apply through a sponsor instead; the visa issued is identical.

Emirates 48-Hour Transit Visa

Emirates offers the same service to its passengers through the manage-booking section of its site, with the same ticket restriction. Emirates and Flydubai codeshare on many routes, so check which airline operates each leg before applying through either.

Dubai Transit Visa 48 Hours from Singapore

Travellers searching for a Dubai e-visa to transit 48 hours from Singapore are usually not Singaporean. Singapore passport holders enter the UAE visa-free and need nothing. The people who need a transit visa are other nationalities departing from Changi — Indian, Filipino, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan and Indonesian passport holders living or working in Singapore.

Two rules matter here. A Singapore residence permit on its own does not exempt you from a UAE visa. The exception is Indian passport holders: a valid Singapore residence permit qualifies them for UAE visa on arrival under the expanded eligibility list, so an Indian resident of Singapore can transit Dubai without a pre-arranged visa. Every other nationality on the visa-required list should apply for the 48-hour transit e-visa before flying, whether on Singapore Airlines, Emirates or Flydubai. 3. Confirmed onward ticket — to a third country, departing within the 48-hour window.

Dubai Transit Visa 48 Hours vs 14-Day Single Visa: Which to Buy

This is the decision most transit passengers get wrong. The Dubai transit visa 48 hours option is the right choice only when you genuinely have a short layover on a through-ticket to a third country. In several common situations the 14 Day Single Visa ($140) is better:

• Your layover is close to 48 hours. Flight delays eat into a fixed 48-hour window; the 14-day visa gives slack.

• Your travel dates may shift. The transit visa must be used within 14 days of issue; the 14-day visa gives you 58 days to enter.

• Your onward flight is not on the same booking. Immigration may not treat two separate tickets as a transit, but a short visa works regardless.

• You are returning to your origin country. A round trip is not a transit. Only a visit visa applies.

Choose the 48-hour transit visa when you have a single itinerary, a confirmed onward flight within two days, and no interest in staying longer. Choose the 14 Day Single Visa when any of the four points above applies. Both are processed in three to four days.

Why a Dubai Transit Visa 48 Hours Application Is Refused

Refusals are uncommon but almost always avoidable:

• No onward ticket or an onward ticket back to the country you departed from.

• Onward departure outside the 48-hour window — the itinerary must fit inside two days.

• Passport validity under six months.

• Previous overstay in the UAE with unpaid fines.

• Nationality not eligible for transit visas through the sponsor route — a small number of nationalities must apply through their airline only.

Searches for "GDRFA issuance of a transit visa for 48 hours" or "ICP UAE transit visa 48 hours 96 hours" point to the two authorities that issue the permit. GDRFA Dubai issues transit visas sponsored from Dubai; ICP issues those sponsored from other emirates or by federally registered airlines. Both permits are valid for entry at any UAE airport.
