IS THERE A NEED OF A SEPERATE DUBAI VISA IF YOU HAVE A UAE VISA?

No, you don't need a separate visa for Dubai.  As Dubai is not a country of its own, there is no separate 'Dubai Visa'; it is part of the UAE. If you have a visa that allows you to reach the UAE, you can fly to any of its emirates, including Dubai.

TYPES OF DUBAI/UAE VISAS:

There are four main types of UAE Visa:

  • Tourist Visa- As the name suggests, tourist visas are provided for tourism purposes or any other purpose that is shorter than 30 days and does not require you to take up employment and live in the UAE for long term purposes.
  • Residence Visas- are for foreigners who are interested in moving to the UAE. There are three types of residence visas
  • Student Visa: This visa is issued to individuals who want to study in the UAE educational institute.
  • Work Visa: The authorization to take up a job in a foreign country is a work permit or work visa.

  • Transit Visa- Transit visas are given to foreigners who have to travel through the United Arab Emirates to another country. These visa types are issued for a period of 48 or 96 hours.

DUBAI VISA REQUIREMENTS

You must have several documents to support your application when applying for a UAE tourist visa, such as:

  • Photocopies of your passport and your sponsor's passport. The validity of your passport should be minimum of six months.
  • Photocopy of the relevant pages of the passport. You do not need to apply for your original passport at all in certain instances. Photocopies of the related pages of your passport may be included (or all the pages on your passport).
  • Two passport size pictures with white background and neutral facial expression.
  • A confirmed airline round-trip ticket or an onward travel airline ticket.  If you apply through an airline, the ticket must be from the airline.
  • Proof of accommodation like hotel bookings.
  • A cover letter that should state the purpose and duration of your stay.
  • Proof of legal residency in your country (ie. your visa or residence permit). This is only relevant if you are not a citizen of the country in which you reside.
  • Previous travel proof:
  • Submit copies of the entry and exit stamps on your passport if you have been to the UAE in the last year.
  • Copies of any visas you have received during the past 5 years to the USA, UK, Schengen Area, Canada, Russia, Australia, or New Zealand

DUBAI VISA APPLICATION

The UAE does not grant visas through its embassies or consulates overseas, unlike most countries. In addition, you can't submit your own UAE Visa application-you must have a sponsor in the UAE or apply to submit it on your behalf through an authorized agency.

VISA REQUIREMENTS FOR GCC NATIONALS

GCC nationals are residents of Gulf Cooperation Council countries, i.e. Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain, who do not need a UAE visa in order to travel to Dubai.
