Dubai Visa for Ethiopian Passport Holders
Ethiopian passport holders need a UAE visa before travelling to Dubai. There is no visa on arrival for Ethiopian citizens, so your visa must be approved before you board. Do Ethiopian Citizens Need a Visa for Dubai?
Yes. Ethiopia is not on the UAE visa-on-arrival list, so Ethiopian passport holders need a visa arranged before travelling to Dubai or another UAE emirate.
A UAE tourist visa is normally sponsored from inside the UAE through an eligible airline, hotel, travel company, or another approved sponsor route. A relative or friend living in the UAE may also be able to sponsor an appropriate visit permit. When you apply through Dubai Visa Center, we act as your visa-service sponsor and submit the application through the relevant UAE channel.
UAE embassies do not issue tourist visas. A visa issued for Dubai is a UAE entry visa and can be used to travel within all seven emirates, subject to the conditions of the visa.
Which Dubai Visa Should You Choose?
The right option depends on how long you plan to stay and whether you need to enter the UAE more than once. For a holiday or family visit, the main choices are 14-day, 30-day and 60-day tourist visas.

Stay means the maximum period you can remain in the UAE after entry. Visa validity is the period in which the visa must be used for entry after it is issued.
How Much Is a Dubai Visa From Ethiopia?
The visa cards on this page show the current price for an Ethiopian passport in US dollars. The displayed price includes the UAE government visa fee and the Dubai Visa Center service fee. For visas with the same stay duration, a single-entry visa normally costs less than a multiple-entry visa.
If your payment card is billed in Ethiopian birr or another currency, your bank or card provider converts the USD charge using its applicable exchange rate and fees.

What You Upload to Apply
- Ethiopian passport: Upload a clear scan of the passport bio page. Your passport must be valid for at least six months from the date you enter the UAE. The full page should be visible with no glare, cropping or covered information.
- Recent photograph: Use a recent passport-size colour photograph taken within the last six months. Face the camera with a neutral expression against a plain white or light background. Avoid sunglasses, caps, hats, headphones, blur and photo filters. Religious headwear is acceptable when the full face remains visible.
A flight ticket or hotel booking is not required to submit the standard application through our current form. If your passport scan or photograph is not ready, you can complete the application and send the documents later by email or WhatsApp. Additional documents may be requested depending on the application or UAE immigration review.

Security Deposit

How to Get a Dubai Visa From Ethiopia

How Long Does a Dubai Visa Take for Ethiopian Passport Holders?
Regular processing for Ethiopian passports is currently 3–4 days for tourist, transit and extension visa products shown on this page. The 14-day business visa is listed with a processing time of 1–2 days.
These are service estimates rather than guaranteed approval times. UAE immigration can take longer or request additional documents. Apply before your intended departure and avoid making non-refundable plans based only on the earliest estimated approval date.

Ethiopian Passport Holder Living Outside Ethiopia
Your UAE visa requirement is based mainly on the passport you travel with, not simply where you live. If you hold an Ethiopian passport but live in the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe, another Gulf country or elsewhere, you still need to arrange a UAE visa before travelling unless you qualify under a separate UAE immigration rule.
When applying, select Ethiopia as your citizenship and enter your actual current country of residence.
Transiting Through Dubai on an Ethiopian Passport
If you change flights in Dubai and remain inside the international transit area without passing through UAE immigration, a UAE entry visa is generally not required for that airside connection.
If you need or want to enter the UAE during the stopover, Ethiopian passport holders need an appropriate visa arranged in advance. Available options include the 48-hour transit visa and 96-hour transit visa. Transit visas are single entry and cannot be extended. Keep your confirmed onward travel details ready.

Dubai Visa Center currently lists 30-day and 60-day extension services. Start the process before your permitted stay expires. UAE overstay penalties are charged per day, and immigration violations can affect future applications.
Can You Work in Dubai on a Visit Visa?
No. A tourist, visit or transit visa does not give you permission to take up employment in the UAE. Short business-visit permission also does not replace the work authorisation required for employment.

Mistakes That Can Slow Down an Ethiopian Visa Application
- Uploading a blurred, cropped or glare-covered passport scan.
- Applying with a passport that does not have the required remaining validity.
- Entering a name, passport number or date of birth that does not match the passport exactly.
- Uploading a photograph that is blurred, heavily edited or does not follow the required format.

The UAE Embassy in Addis Ababa
The UAE Embassy in Addis Ababa represents the United Arab Emirates in Ethiopia, but it does not issue standard UAE tourist visas. Tourist and visit visa applications are handled through eligible UAE sponsors and visa channels.
